In the context of accelerating climate change and socioeconomic development in the Arctic and Subarctic, the Sentinel North research program at Université Laval helps to generate the knowledge needed to improve our understanding of the changing northern environment and its impact on humans and their health.
The program fosters the convergence of expertise in the engineering, natural, social and health sciences to catalyze scientific discovery and innovation in support of sustainable health and development in the North.
We are pleased to present Sentinel North’s activity report for 2022-2023, highlighting the program’s interdisciplinary commitment and its catalyzing effect on scientific discoveries and innovation. The year was marked by several key achievements, including the publication of Sentinel North's research compendium that captures the breadth and depth of the cutting-edge research conducted by our community and the knowledge produced over the first phase of the program. Also showcased in this report, are the significant strides made towards training the next generation of interdisciplinary researchers. As we look to the future, we remain focused on advancing our core mission and translating research into real and lasting impacts for the North.
To shed light on the northern environment and its impact on humans by means of innovative new technologies and interdisciplinary research initiatives in support of sustainable health and development.
The program is made possible thanks, in part, to significant funding from the Canada First Research Excellence Fund.
Sentinel North is financially supported by the Fonds de recherche du Québec.
